Joe Gooch (* 3. Mai 1977 in Highbury, im Norden von London) war bis Ende 2013 Gitarrist und Leadsänger der Bluesrock-Gruppe Ten Years After. Bereits seit 2010 ist er Frontmann von Hundred Seventy Split.

Biografie

Joe Gooch wuchs in einem sehr musikalischem Umfeld auf und fand schnell den Weg zum Jazz und zum Blues. Mit der im Jahr 1967 gegründeten Woodstock-Festival-Band Ten Years After trat er 2003 mit 26 Jahren das Erbe von Ex-Frontmann Alvin Lee an. Zu dieser Zeit spielte er in der Band Siro.

Ursprünglich erhielt Gooch eine klassische Gitarrenausbildung, fand aber früh zur Musik von Jimi Hendrix und Frank Zappa. Er hat mit Ten Years After zwischen 2003 und 2008 vier Alben veröffentlicht, anschließend mit The Ascent ein Album. 2010 begann er mit dem Bandmitglied Leo Lyons von Ten Years After das Projekt Hundred Seventy Split, das Studioalben produziert, aber ab 2011 auch Liveauftritte absolvierte und 2012 eine DVD mit dem Titel Live from the Rockhal (Luxembourg) veröffentlicht hat.
